We stayed in Adagio with big Erasmus group in November. We had very nice time in Budapest. Hostel is located close to the city centre, 5mins walking. Hostel was clean, big and nicely decorated rooms. The only thing was - few showers (not in the rooms) for such a big group, but we managed it. Staff was friendly and helpful. No problems. Cheap.
I had booked for 2 nights, but stayed for 5. As a women in my fifties, I was relieved that I only had one other person in the female dorm. I found the staff very helpful indeed and the place was very clean and quiet but local to all forms of transport. One little grumble it said free tea and coffee, but no normal tea and usually no milk. But otherwise... great.
The hostel, although shabby looking at first appearance is completely modern once entering the building. The rooms are very clean and spacious with there being good Wi-Fi and a nice common room to use.
Location is perfect, being right in the octagon means you in the middle of the sites with the city centre only moments away.
I would definitely recommend this place for people interrailing or for a university tour.
This is a hostel in an huge apartment.
Good location (Gastland Bistro nearby), staff is ok.
We had a 2p room with a bathroom, the shower was a bit dark as the light was only over the sink. Clean rooms, one can use a kitchen with a lot of untensils.
The only annoying thing was people talking loudly in the corridors next to the rooms so you can't expect to sleep well here.
I like how the staff tried to maintain the silent hours while it was on new year's eve. He kept telling those drunk people to be quiet, which was very professional because even that was a party day, some people would try to sleep, and silent hours should be followed. Good job!
You have everything you need including internet, light & current plug for each bed, functional kitchen use, free coffee and tea, a good/cheap restaurant just downstairs the hostel, metro and tram/bus stations nearby, walking distance from monuments and pubs ... hot water in the shower was just a little warm but you can still make a shower without wasting water. Thank you, köszönöm :-)
We stayed in the Hungarian Cowboy room (private) and it was the best thing I ever did. It was like a mini hotel room for 1/4th of the price. You are within walking distance to almost everywhere you want to go, with great restaurants in the area as well. The staff was amazing and really helped us find places to eat, go, and tickets. Peter was fantastic! We loved this hostel, but be aware that the walls are thin and many of the other guests like to have Brittany Spears dance parties all night
Overall good, clean hostel, I have to say that the staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. The location is right by tram and metro stations which really helps.
Liked: It has a perfect location, walking distance to all the things me and my friends wanted to check out. Staff was very nice and helpful. Clean rooms and kitchens.
Disliked: The shower in our room. No room to leave clothes or towels. Now we were just with friends so no problem, but if you stay there with strangers it might be a bit awkward.
Liked: Few days before our arrival some technical difficulties occured at the hostel, so instead we were put in their other hostel, with a private bathroom (we booked a shared one) at the same price. Great location (right at the most important squares, 37 steps from a metro station - counted). Room with separate key-cars (so you don't end up with one key per room). Very clean and modern.
Disliked: A bit noisy at night (but it is right next to a busy street, so it is acceptable).
